WHY "DE HEK", WHEN & WHERE WERE I BORN? Print

  • 2

Many people ask this question because my last name is Dutch! I was born in Christchurch Womens Hospital on 19 January 1970, I got the name "de Hek" from my dutch stepfather "Robert de Hek" who died suddenly when I was 7 years old, for the 18 months that he was married to my mother, I got known as Danny de Hek however when I was 15 I needed to open a bank account I could only do this with my legal name "Danny Charlesworth" so to keep life simple I changed my last name to match my known name, I am very proud of the name "de Hek" and to my  knowledge I'm am the only one in New Zealand and what the Hek lets be different!
